Justine Mettraux, the Swiss sailor charting her course toward excellence!

Justine Mettraux, a Swiss sailor born in Geneva in 1986, grew up in Versoix and started sailing at a very young age on the family boat.

At age 16, Justine joined the Centre d’Entraînement à la Régate (CER) in Geneva, where she honed her competitive edge by competing in several Tour de France à la Voile editions.

After 10 years with the CER, Justine sailed for 2 years on LadyCat, the D35 skippered by Dona Bertarelli, and used the winters to embark on long-distance offshore sailing around the world.

She then took the plunge into solo racing and competed with TeamWork in the 2013 Mini Transat. She finished second overall in the production boat class, becoming the first woman to reach this podium step!

In 2014-2015, Justine took part in the Volvo Ocean Race aboard Team SCA, an all-female crew skippered by Sam Davies, which finished the race in 6th place. Justine then led a Figaro campaign, competing in 4 editions of La Solitaire, always under the TeamWork banner. She finished in 7th position in 2017, her best result.

Meanwhile, she accumulated diverse offshore experiences: a Transat Jacques Vabre with Bertrand Delesne in Class40, and participating in several legs of the 2017-2018 Volvo Ocean Race with Dongfeng – which went on to win that edition.

At the end of 2020, Justine joined the American IMOCA crew 11th Hour Racing Team in preparation for The Ocean Race 2023. With them, she took part in The Ocean Race Europe and the 2021 Transat Jacques Vabre alongside Simon Fisher, gaining tremendous experience on foiling IMOCAs.

In the summer of 2022, TeamWork announced the acquisition of Charal 1 to support Justine all the way to the 2024 Vendée Globe. Following a 7th-place finish in the Route du Rhum, Justine rejoined the crew for the round-the-world race with stopovers.

Justine took part in several legs alongside the 11th Hour Racing team. The American IMOCA, skippered by Charlie Enright, won the fully-crewed round-the-world race with stopovers.

In March 2024, Justine announced a new partnership with Groupe SNEF. Her IMOCA thus became TeamWork – Team SNEF, setting its sights on the Vendée Globe start line, where the Swiss navigator clinched 8th place. Languages spoken by the speaker:
