Son of Antoine Rebeaud and grandson of Frédéric Rebeaud, it was destined that Mat would follow the same path and represent the third generation of motocross riders…

At the age of 4, he received his first bike and began doing his first laps on the track. Very quickly, he competed in regional and national races in the 80cc and 125cc categories. He would have certainly continued on this clear path had a major phenomenon not intervened: FMX, or freestyle motocross. This spectacular discipline made its official debut in 1999 at the Summer X-Games.

For a time, Mat alternated between motocross races and freestyle shows/competitions, as his father insisted his son practice a "sensible" sport and continue traditional motocross racing.

Having practiced jumps and tricks from a very young age, he proved to be extraordinary in the air and turned definitively to freestyle motocross, leaving traditional track racing in 2005 after winning the "Night of the Jumps" competition.

Today, Mat only uses solid ground to build up speed before taking flight. His Backflip Combos and Underflips (which he invented himself) are among the best in the world of freestyle motocross, and he continues to practice in his backyard creating new tricks never seen before.
