He joined the RAID in 1998 as a crisis negotiator and completed his training at the FBI National Academy in 2000. He subsequently contributed to the creation and facilitation of the crisis negotiator training module delivered worldwide by the RAID, drawing upon his experience managing hundreds of critical situations such as hostage takings, armed barricades, and collective sieges.

Since 2004, he has been working as a keynote speaker, negotiator, and advisor to corporations, the media, and governmental and non-governmental organizations, sharing his unique insights and experience in handling kidnappings, extortions, diplomatic crises, and more. Laurent Combalbert is also the author of numerous bestselling books on leadership, negotiation, and communication, and teaches complex negotiation at HEC and Sciences Po Paris.
