A seasoned senior foreign correspondent, Gaetan Vannay headed the "Foreign News" desk at RTS (Radio Suisse Romande) and covered most of the major international crises of this 21st century. During his reporting assignments, he was beaten in Zimbabwe, detained by Ukrainian intelligence services, arrested and interrogated by Russian military intelligence in Dagestan, imprisoned in Ivory Coast, besieged in Zintan in Libya by General Gaddafi's forces, pursued by secret services in Hama, Syria, and harassed by Syrian regime supporters in Geneva.
Gaetan Vannay has also collaborated with numerous international media outlets such as Al Jazeera, Radio Canada, Radio France (France Info, France Inter), Le Monde, …. His work earned him a nomination for the 2012 Bayeux Calvados-Normandy Award for war correspondents, the Jean Dumur Award 2011, as well as another international award under a pseudonym in 2013.
