André Comte-Sponville is one of the most widely read and translated French philosophers in the world. He defines himself as a materialist (in the spirit of Epicurus), a rationalist (in the spirit of Spinoza), and a humanist (in the spirit of Montaigne), as well as a “non-dogmatic and faithful atheist.” He offers wisdom for our modern times.
