Zarifa Ghafari is an internationally recognized human rights activist, peace advocate, and one of the youngest and most courageous political leaders to emerge from Afghanistan in recent history. Appointed Mayor of Maidan Shahr at just 26 years old, she defied societal norms and threats to become a symbol of resilience, democracy, and women’s empowerment in one of the most dangerous regions for female leaders.

Her extraordinary life story is documented in the memoir « ZARIFA – A Woman’s Battle In A Man’s World », published in 8 languages, and the acclaimed Netflix documentary “In Her Hands”, produced by Hillary and Chelsea Clinton.
