The Swiss champion is also a driven achiever eager to share her knowledge and experience. Consequently, she has been working as a coach and keynote speaker since 2010.

Born in Bern on February 6, 1976, to a Swiss father and a Norwegian mother, she first tried snowboarding in 1989. It was a true revelation: she loved it instantly and decided to turn it into her profession. She entered competitive sports in the 1990s. In 1996, she competed in her first World Cup races, followed by a second-place finish at the 1999 Boardercross European Championships. From that moment on, Tanja committed fully to becoming the very best.

In 2006 came the ultimate achievement: she won gold at the Turin Winter Olympic Games ahead of American Lindsey Jacobellis. At age 30, she became the first woman to claim this title and was named Swiss Sportswoman of the Year.

After three more brilliant seasons ranking in the world's top 3, Tanja suffered a severe fall during a qualifying run, injuring her Achilles tendon. This setback forced her to forgo defending her Olympic title at the 2010 Vancouver Games. She then retired from snowboard cross following a stellar career featuring 32 podium finishes.

Moving on from competitive sports, Tanja took on new challenges. She founded her company, "Tanja Frieden GmbH", based in the Bernese Oberland. Backed by certifications in neuro-coaching, she established herself as a mental coach, working with elite athletes as well as business executives. She shares her athletic journey to help clients boost their inner strength. Whether offering tailored one-on-one sessions or group workshops, she consistently brings energy and enthusiasm while guiding clients toward optimal solutions. As she often says: "Motion in head and body".

She pursues her career with passion, building bridges between the worlds of high-level sports and business. With humor and emotional depth, she imparts valuable insights on self-motivation, goal setting, resource management, and self-assessment.

A frequent media contributor, she regularly takes part in TV broadcasts during major sporting events (such as the 2017 St. Moritz World Championships). She also lectures at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW).

Additionally, she serves as President of Schneesportinitiative.ch / gosnow.ch, an initiative dedicated to encouraging secondary school students to take up snow sports and enjoy the slopes.

Tanja currently lives with her partner and son in Thun, Switzerland.Languages spoken by the speaker:
