CÉLINE VAN TILL KEYNOTES DUBAI and ABU DHABI

Céline Van Till's conferences about well-being at work, motivation and leadership - by UnoMe the Swiss Speakers' Bureau

Céline van Till is a Swiss para-dressage rider. Born on 20 June 1991 in Geneva, she started riding when she was six. She fell completely in love with riding, and soon revealed her competitive spirit. When she was just 13, she participated in competition after competition, in dressage and in showjumping. In the end, she decided to continue on with dressage, for the elegance of the movements and the perfection of the gestures. In 2007, she became famous when she won 5th place in the junior Swiss championships. This was a major turning point in her career, enabling her to join the national junior team.

    She fell!

But in 2008, her life totally changed. She fell! While she was training in Germany, she had a serious horse-riding accident, which plunged her into a month-long coma. Severe head trauma. She came out of the coma partially tetraplegic, aphasic, and partially sighted. Did she give up? The phrase is not part of her vocabulary.

    And learnt to become resilient.

Returning to the saddle made her enjoy life again, gradually regain trust in herself and her horse. Just two years after her terrible accident, she was able to reach the highest level in para-dressage. She became Miss Handicap in 2012, and continued to use her experience to serve the integration and equality of handicapped people. As helping others is her passion, she works with institutions such as Handicap International Switzerland, where she is on the board of directors.

Céline became a champion and a writer

In 2014, she was selected for the World Equestrian Games, and went on to represent Switzerland at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. She took 13th place, and is already working toward winning a medal in Tokyo in 2020! Her leitmotif is « everything is possible », as she says in her autobiography « Pas à pas, histoire d’un accident et d’une résurrection » (« Step by step, the story of an accident and a resurrection », in French), published by Slatkine. After her book, a film on her was produced: Bucéphale (the premiere will be announced soon). This documentary tells the story of her journey and the ordeals she had to overcome to recover her life!

    She also is a lecturer

As she wants to share her expertise with others, she is often asked to give conferences and to offer training for companies. She has become an entrepreneur, and shares fundamental life values and a mindset that can overcome each challenge.

    And sponsors events in Geneva

Céline also sponsors several sports events, such as the 2018 Geneva National Special Olympics, and the « 20km de Genève by Genève » race. To support the next generation, she is the honorary sponsor of Cookie. She sponsors the « Jeux du Grand Genève », and is involved in the sports studies programme at ESM.

She has several sports and professional projects, and remains focused on her next objective: Tokyo 2020, which she is striving for with more determination than ever.

ANDRÉ BORSCHBERG KEYNOTES in DUBAI and ABU DHABI

André Borschberg's conferences about innovation motivation and leadership, by UnoMe, the Swiss Speakers Bureau

André Borschberg—a revolutionary engineer! This leader and pioneer in new applied technology development is driven by one force: the desire to advance the human and technological frontiers. He firmly believes that technological expertise, and using technology the right way, can take mankind further. This is what makes him a true explorer. His motto: « Make the impossible possible ».

Of course, after his hot-air balloon flight around the world, Bertrand Piccard dreams of a bigger feat. He would like to chart a new course by proving that we can produce energy differently, and that we can really use the sun to move in a new way. But changing paradigms means having access to new technologies, and above all, implementing these new solutions. To make this dream come true, concrete solutions and some genius are required. A feasibility study was conducted at the EPFL in 2003, and it was André Borschberg who was to be tasked with taking up the challenge …

André Borschberg was born on 13 December 1952 in Zurich, Switzerland. He is a thermodynamic mechanics graduate of the EPFL (« École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne« ), and a management science graduate of MIT; he is an engineer, fighter pilot (in the Swiss Air Force) and an entrepreneur (with several start-ups to his credit). To put it simply, André Borschberg is a man of challenge. With his passion for the idea and the project, he committed to building the solar airplane that Bertrand and himself would use to fly around the world. Nothing could deter him, even when the aviation industry told him that it was impossible to build a plane as big as a jumbo jet with the weight of a car.

Through their exchanges and work, the two men became friends. The determination and genius of this mechanical engineer led to the implementation of a revolutionary project: to fly solely with the energy of the sun.

One day in July 2010, Solar Impulse became real. The aircraft, a messenger of modern times, flew over 26 hours with André steering it, without landing, even for the night … Icarus finally had his revenge.

The Solar Impulse adventure is well known: the first international flight in 2011 (from Switzerland to Belgium), the Pacific crossing from Japan to Hawaii in 2015, etc. The website « Objectif Soleil » tells the story. With this adventure, he has broken several world records, including the longest solo flight, over 117 hours without refuelling the aircraft.

André Borschberg still wants to go further, working on new projects with the company H55. With the electric propulsion developed for Solar Impulse, he would like to transform aviation, to make it cleaner and quieter. Taking off vertically like a drone, and flying like a plane without noise or pollution is not science fiction any more.
However, the Solar Impulse pilot has fuel and energy to give to others. He is eager to share his experience and pass on the values built during this wonderful adventure.

Nicolas Hale-Woods is known as the co-founder of Xtreme Verbier, as well as the founder of the Freeride World Tour, the off-piste ski and snowboard World Cup, of which Xtreme Verbier is the grand finale event. With a team of 12, Nicolas’ company also manages the sport’s pyramid, comprising 4,000 licensed athletes and over 130 competitions worldwide, enabling juniors to progress on the Freeride Junior Tour before competing to qualify for the Freeride World Tour at the Freeride World Qualifier.

With an English father and a Swiss-born mother, originally from Neuchâtel, Nicolas spent time on the slopes at a very young age, accompanied by his grandmother. After attending schools in Switzerland, the UK and Belgium, he was awarded a degree in economics from the University of Fribourg. It was during his studies in the mid-1980s that Nicolas acquired a passion for snowboarding. His goal: as well as a taste for adrenaline off the slopes, in completely different environments (especially as a water surfer).

This led him to form the Swiss Surfing Association with friends in 1992, enabling him to compete in amateur world surfing championships. « For a country with no ocean, this was great, » he says. A bit like the Jamaicans forming a bobsleigh team…

It was then that he developed the Freeride competitions at Verbier, marking the beginning of his career.

Born in 1970, Berti (Bertrand) Dénervaud is a former professional snowboarder who made his name in the half-pipe between 1992 and 2002. Originally from Fribourg in western Switzerland, he has an exceptional track record, having won as many as eight World Championships in both, the general class and the half-pipe. Berti’s talent has not only reaped its rewards in the Snowboard World Cup half-pipe, but also in Snowboard Cross and Alpine events. This has certainly been an incredible achievement, given that no other snowboarder has been able to do the same. Between 1991 and 2002, Berti earned a place on the podium in more than 50 events and qualified for the Nagano Winter Olympic Games. In June 1998, he also became President of the International Snowboarding Federation. Yet despite this success, Berti has always remained modest about his athletic achievements. He has never been interested in appearing on the covers of magazines and has always been more concerned about his sporting performance than his image.

Now 47, Berti lives in Lentigny, France, and is the Sales Director for Scott Sports Switzerland. MATHIEU REBEAUD’S KEYNOTES in DUBAI and ABU DHABI

Conférences de Mat Rebeaud champion suisse de motocross freestyle sur les thèmes de l'économie, le futur, la prospective, par UnoMe le Swiss Speakers' Bureau

Mat (Mathieu) Rebeaud was born in Payerne in Western Switzerland in 1982. Son of motocross rider Antoine Rebeaud and grandson of Frédéric Rebeaud, Mat was destined to follow in their footsteps, representing the family’s third generation of off-road enthusiasts.

Mat was given his first bike at the tender age of four, when he immediately took to the track, and was soon to compete in races at both, regional and national level in the 80cc and 125cc categories. He would undoubtedly have pursued this clearly marked path, had a major event not sown a seed in his mind: the FFX or, more precisely, freestyle motocross, a spectacular discipline that made its first official appearance at the Summer X Games in 1999.

Mat then spent some time alternating between motocross events and freestyle shows orcompetitions, his father insisting that he continue to practise an « acceptable » sport in the form of motocross racing.

Having worked on his jumps and tricks from a very young age, Mat’s airborne featsproved to be his greatest talent, and he finally abandoned the track for freestyle motocross in 2005 after winning the « Night of the jumps »competition.

The only time Mat now touches the ground is to pick up speed before flying into the air.And although his backflip combos and underflips (all inventions of his own imagination) are the best in the world of freestyle motocross, he is constantly rehearsing new, never-seen-before moves in his own back yard.

No other sport has pushed Mat to his limits as quickly as freestyle motocross. His contribution to the discipline has been tremendous and he is still going all out to drive it forward. « Playing with bikes is all I want to do, » he says.

Conférences de Luc Alphand sur la motivation et le leadership, par UnoMe, le swiss speakers bureau

Having been born in the snow, it was just natural that my first lasting passion should be skiing. I loved the sport and I finally decided to enter competitions. Despite my late start, I managed to find myself winning medals and being among the best. It was a real pleasure to find myself at such a level. But after 15 years of intense competition, I finally packed my skis away for the last time.
Then I was invited to try auto-racing. This awakened the ‘speed’ bug in me and I rapidly became addicted to the thrills and the races.
To get started in the discipline, I created a structure – Team Luc Alphand Aventures (TAA). This enabled me to finance my first racing car, the training and the races. I drove for Renault for 2 seasons and then spent 2 further years with BMW XRaid. Finally, I was an official driver for Mitsubishi for some 6 years, before the company withdrew from competition.
A serious motocross accident ended my sporting career, but I remain in contact as a consultant. I remain in the world of motor sport with consultancies for France Television for the Dakar Rally, but I am also a consultant for the major alpine skiing events. I returned to the motor sports world as a consultant for the Silkway Rally.

Conférences de Tina Maze sur la motivation et le leadership par UnoMe le Swiss Speakers' Bureau

Tina Maze has her parents to thank for learning to ski at the age of three. In addition, she started to play volleyball and the piano at an equally early age. As early as secondary school she was a member of Slovenia’s women’s B team in alpine skiing. This already provided some of her most unforgettable memories because it saw her selected for the World Cup and the start of very encouraging results.

In 2008, she decided to form a new team, called “Team to aMAZE” with Andrea Massi, and to take off in a different direction. The decision proved to be the right one and she started to have her finest series of successes to date.

After numerous victories in the World Cup plus several medals at the World Championships and the Olympic Games, the 2012/2013 season could be described as her record season and, thanks to such extraordinary results, Tina could be considered as having become one of the greatest female skiers of the modern era.
